Mr Kerry Acton is a Consultant Orthopaedic
Surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. He qualified in
1994 from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London with a BSc in
addition to his medical degrees.
He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of
England in 1998 and undertook Orthopaedic training in London and the South
East. He underwent subspecialty training in cementless and revision hip
surgery during a one year Furlong Fellowship on the south coast.
In addition to a great enthusiasm for trauma surgery
and fracture care, Mr Acton’s main interests lie in surgery of the
hip and knee. Having studied the long term survival of implants he is a
proponent of uncemented hip replacements and hard bearing (metal on metal
(MOM) or ceramic on ceramic) hips. He performs revision hip surgery for
failed previous replacements. He has a particular interest in the diagnosis
and treatment of hip and knee problems in the young including arthroscopy
and, during a consultation, will explain about all the options, including
hip resurfacing (Birmingham Hip).
